PROJECT SYNOPSIS ▾


THIS IS A SPACE BUILT UPON NATURAL IMAGERY WITHIN AN EASTERN CONTEXT—"RAINWATER," "RAW STONE," AND "MOONLIGHT." INTEGRATING NATURAL PHENOMENA AND RHYTHMS INTO THE DESIGN PROJECT IS NOT MERELY ABOUT REPLICATING APPEARANCES, BUT ABOUT EVOKING MEMORIES OF NATURAL LANDSCAPES AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCES OF NATURE....



OBSERVING RAIN

BLACK IS NOT A FLAT OR MONOTONOUS COLOR; THE HAND-BRUSHED BLACK LACQUER CREATES A VARIED TEXTURE THAT SERVES AS A METAPHOR FOR RAIN: FINE VERTICAL LINES RESEMBLE GENTLE DRIZZLES, WHILE COARSE VERTICAL LINES EVOKE HEAVY DOWNPOURS—TORRENTS CASCADING LIKE A WATERFALL FROM THE HEAVENS. DIAGONAL LINES MIMIC WIND-DRIVEN RAIN, AND CHAOTIC PATTERNS SUGGEST THE AFTERMATH OF A STORM. OUR EXPERIENCE OF NATURE SHAPES THE ATMOSPHERE OF A PLACE. THE DIFFERENT FORMS OF FALLING RAIN ARE JUXTAPOSED IN A COLLAGE-LIKE MANNER—SOMETIMES TRANQUIL, SOMETIMES INTENSE—IMBUING THE MASSIVE STRUCTURE WITH A VIVID, DYNAMIC ENERGY.

APPRECIATING STONE

RAW STONE IS NEUTRAL AND SILENT; ITS INTRIGUING BEAUTY OFTEN LIES AT THE SUBTLE BOUNDARY BETWEEN NATURE AND ARTIFICE. NATURAL STONE IS CUT INTO RECTANGULAR BLOCKS AND LAID ACROSS THE FLOOR, WHERE ITS DISORDERED GRAIN, UNDER SHARP AND PRECISE DIVISION, REVEALS A STRONG SENSE OF ORDER AND CONTROL. THE STONE SLABS AND BLOCKS ARE CARVED TO DISPLAY EITHER STRAIGHT OR CURVED POLISHED SURFACES, WHILE PARTIALLY RETAINING THEIR RUGGED, ORIGINAL TEXTURES. THEY SERVE AS SCULPTURAL ELEMENTS WITH DISPLAY FUNCTIONS, FORMING INDEPENDENT SCENES THROUGHOUT THE SPACE.

MOONLIGHT

IT IS MOONLIGHT THAT TRANSFORMS THE LONG, LONELY NIGHT INTO POETRY. AGAINST A DEEP BLACK BACKDROP, MIRROR-FINISH STAINLESS STEEL HANGING RODS GLEAM WITH A PURE, SILVERY SHEEN. A CAREFULLY POLISHED CURVED NOTCH AT THE INTERSECTION CALLS TO MIND THE EMOTIONAL RESONANCE OF THE MOON’S WAXING AND WANING. DISPLAY PROPS, ALSO MADE OF MIRROR-FINISH STAINLESS STEEL, FEATURE CLEAN, SIMPLE FORMS REMINISCENT OF FUTURISTIC MOONLIT TREASURE BOXES. ALUMINUM FULL-LENGTH MIRRORS AND STAINLESS STEEL FLOOR LAMPS ALSO SHIMMER WITH THE SAME SILVER GLOW—THE FORMER SOFTENING DAZZLING LIGHT WITH ITS ROUNDED FORM, THE LATTER DELICATELY ILLUMINATING THE TEXTURED LACQUER SURFACE LIKE A GUIDING GLIMMER IN WIND AND RAIN. ANOTHER LAYER OF SILVER APPEARS IN THE FORM OF OPENINGS CARVED INTO BLACK VOLUMES. THE CUT SURFACES OF THESE OPENINGS ARE ADORNED WITH SILVER FOIL, OFFERING AN EXTERNAL CLUE. A DEEPER SECRET IS REVEALED UPON ENTERING THE INTERIOR: THE WALLS OF THE FITTING ROOM ARE ENTIRELY CLAD IN SILVER FOIL, ILLUMINATED DISCREETLY BY BLACK WALL LAMPS—SPEAKING TO THE DUAL NATURE OF INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, LIGHT AND SHADOW.

这是一个「雨水」「原石」「月光」构成的东方语境自然意象的空间。将自然现象和自然规律融入设计项目,并非仅仅为了再现其外观,而是为了唤起人们对自然景观和个人自然体验的记忆。

观雨

黑色并不是平滑单调的色彩,手工涂刷的黑漆形成多变的肌理构成对雨水的隐喻:细密的直纹如同绵柔细雨,粗粝的直纹则是大雨骤降,飞流直下三千尺;斜纹好似飘摇不定的风雨,乱纹则如漫天暴雨过境。对于自然的经验形成了场所的情绪,落雨的不同姿态以拼贴式的手法并置,或平和或激越,赋予庞大的体量以鲜活的动势。

赏石

原石是中性而沉默的,耐人寻味的美学往往出现在自然与人工的微妙边际处。天然石材被切割为方正的石块,满铺地面,无序的纹理在锐利而精确的切分下,呈现出强烈的秩序理性和控制力。石板和石块经过切削,展示出或笔直或弧形的光滑切面,亦部分保留凹凸不平的原始肌理,以雕塑的形式承载陈列功能,在空间各处自成一景。

明月

将漫漫长夜由寂寥转为诗意,全凭月光。深邃的黑色背景映衬下,镜面不锈钢挂杆呈现出皎洁的光泽,纵横交接处被精心打磨的一处弧形缺口,令人联想起阴晴圆缺的感怀。橱窗道具同样采用镜面不锈钢,简洁的造型如同来自未来的月光宝盒。同样银光闪烁的还有铝质全身镜以及不锈钢落地灯,前者以其圆润的造型将炫目的光线柔化,后者纤巧地照亮斜纹漆面,似风雨中指引前路的微光。另一重银光首先体现在黑色体块的局部开洞,洞口的切面饰以银箔,作为外部的线索,更深层的秘密在进入体块内部时完全揭示:试衣间墙面通体满贴银箔,黑色壁灯以低调的方式将银箔照亮,诉说内与外、光与暗的一体两面。
